ImageViewer is a utility to display images from a number of different formats on a NeXT machine. The formats currently understood include atkras, gif, jpg, itex, pbm, pgm, ppm, macp, mtek, eps, ps, ras, rle, icon, tiff, face, xbm, lisp, brush, and ais files. All formats except ps can be read and most of them can be written too. (JPEG is supported using the Independent JPEG Group's decoder (c) 1991, Thomas G. Lane)
This version of ImageViewer differs from the previously released one (0.9a) only in terms of bugfixes (storage leak, 12 bit TIFF, etc), the Invert option, and JPEG support. Oh, and yes, I colorized the icons. As with the previous release, I'm including a command line version of the conversion engine, called "image", that can be used from the shell. Usage: "image <infile> -o <outfile>" or "image <infile> -o -<fmt>" to send it to stdout. Can also be used to identify image files if the "-o" options isn't given.
ImageViewer is freeware. This means that you don't have to pay for it and I don't promise to support it. There may or may not be future versions of ImageViewer. More likely not. I wrote it once as an exercise in NeXTSTEP programming; if you want a real product, check out PixelMagician by Bacchus Software. There are also several other freeware/shareware alternatives available on the net archives if you want more choices.
